Cicilia is a widow, a mother of two, and is living with HIV. During the country’s long civil war she was hit by shrapnel and had to have her right leg amputated. An income generating loan has given her and her children a better life.
Punitive laws make it difficult for sex workers, men who have sex with men, transgender people and people who use drugs to access HIV prevention services. See, in photos, how the Alliance is reaching these key populations.
In 2010 we launched our new three year strategy, HIV and Healthy Communities.
It reflects our contribution to the international effort to halt and reverse the spread of HIV by 2015, and the recognition that the effectiveness of the AIDS response is inextricably linked to progress on other health and social priorities.
